SSE 6: die Zweite!/SSE 6: Again!

Und hier sind die Schönheiten, die ich von Roni bekommen habe: beide mit Türkis und Swarovski Copper Bicones, aber beide ganz unterschiedlich. Das linke Paar kann man jeden Tag tragen, da die Anhänger relativ klein sind und das rechte Paar ist dann eher was für besondere Gelegenheiten oder auch, wenn man sich im Alltag mal schick machen will. Vielen Dank, Roni! Die Ohrringe sind ein Volltreffer!

And here are the beauties I got from Roni: both with turquoise and Swarovski copper bicones, but very different. The ones on the left I’d wear every day and the ones on the right are for a special occasion or if you want to spice up an outfit. Thank you very much, Roni! Those earrings are a hit!

SSE 6: Halloween total

Dieses Mal war Cat meine Zielperson und ich weiß, daß sie ein großer Halloween- und Geister-Fan ist. Sie hat mir erzählt, daß ihr Spitzname ,,Boo” ist, weil sie alles liebt, was mit Halloween zu tun hat und in der Nacht zum 1. November geboren ist. Zusätzlich war es ja noch der Oktober-Ohrring-Swap, also perfekt für gruselige Designs.  Und so sind mir ein bißchen die Pferde durchgegangen! Halloween total!

Die Kürbisgeister haben es auch in den Wanaba-Blog geschafft, wo sie ebenfalls zur Halloween-Stimmung beitragen!

My mark this time was Cat and I know she is a huuuuuuuge Halloween and ghost fan. She says, her nickname is  “Boo”, because she loves everything about Halloween and was born on Halloween night. Plus it was the October earring swap which means perfect time for spooky designs. So I went a bit overboard with some Halloween beaded earrings. A Halloween overkill, so to say!

The Jack O’Lanterns also made it into the Wanaba-Blog, where they also support the Halloween feeling!

Ich hoffe, Du hast Spaß mit den Ohrringen, Cat! Aber ich habe es auch geschafft, ein ,,normales” Ohrringpaar zu machen, welches man das ganze Jahr tragen kann: Sterlingsilber, graue Süßwasserperlen und blaues Seaglass, das aus Kalifornien zu mir gekommen ist und nun von hier wieder zurück in die USA geht. Natürlich habe ich die Glasstücke wieder selbst gebohrt.

I hope you have fun with all those Halloween earrings, Cat! But I also managed to make a pair for all year round: sterling silver, grey freshwater pearls and tiny blue seaglass pieces, which came all the way from California to my stash and now went back to the US to live in beautiful Ohio. And of course, I drilled the two pieces on my own.

Viele bunte Perlen…./Many colorful beads….

Seitdem ich eine Perlenmühle habe, ist das Herstellen solcher Merhstrang-Ketten weit weniger zeitaufwendig als vorher. Die Herstellung dieser Kette mit zehn Strängen Rocailles hat alles in allem nur ca. zweieinhalb Stunden gedauert. Ich habe einen langen Strang Rocailles mit der Perlenmühle aufgefädelt, dann gleichlange Stücke aus dem Strang geschnitten und am Ende mit einer Quetschperle gesichert. Ein professionelles Finish erhält die Kette durch die Messing-Endstücke von Vintaj und einen S-Verschluß von Hudson’s Bay. Man kann die Kette glatt oder in sich verdreht tragen und sie fühlt sich wunderbar weich und fließend auf der Haut an.

Since I got my bead spinner the making of such multistrand necklaces is not as time consuming as before. This necklace with ten strands of seedbeads only took me two and a half hours to make. I made one long strand of seedbeads, cut ten strands with the same lengths and secured the ends with crimp beads. I finished the ends with Vintaj brass cones and a s-hook clasp from Hudson’s Bay. One can wear the necklace plain or twisted and it feels very soft against the skin.

Armband-Swap 2: Oktober/Bracelet Swap 2: October

Ich mache ja auch bei einem vierteljährlichen Armband-Swap mit, der von Lois aus der BD-Community organisiert wird. Diese Runde war die zweite und meine Zielperson war dieses Mal Pat (Guckt euch unbedingt ihren schönen Schmuck an!). Sie liebt alle ,,kühlen” Farben wie blau und grün und so habe ich für sie ein Peyote-Armband aus Miyuki-Würfelperlen in verschiedenen Blautönen gemacht. Die Idee für dieses Armband stammt aus dem Buch ,,Mastering Beadwork” von Carol Huber Cypher und verwendet werden 4mm Miyuki-Glaswürfel in einem einfachen Peyote-Muster. Der eigentliche Clou aber ist der Verschluß: eine eingewebte Toggle-Schließe komplett aus den gleichen Glaswürfeln wie das Armband. Perfekt für Schmuckliebhaber, die allergisch gegen Metalle sind.

Ich habe natürlich auch ein Armband bekommen, aber ich habe es VERLEGT!!!! Bevor ich ein Foto gemacht habe! Könnt ihr das glauben? Naja, sobald ich es wiederfinde, gibt es Bilder.

I also participate in a quarterly bracelet swap, which is organised by Lois from the BD community. This round was the second one and Pat was my mark (Have a look at her jewelry!). She loves all “cool” colors like blue and green and so I made her a peyote bracelet with Miyuki cubes in several shades of blue. The bracelet idea comes from the book “Mastering Beadwork” by Carol Huber Cypher and uses 4mm Miyuki glass cubes in a simple peyote bracelet. The clou is the toggle clasp: the bar is woven of the same cubes as the bracelet and the “ring” is a hole woven into the bracelet. This bracelet features no metal components, so it is perfect for people who are allergic to metals.

Of course I got a bracelet, too, but guess what? I MISPLACED IT!!!! Before I took a pic! Can you believe that? As soon as I found it, I show you a pic.

Sommer-Armband/Summer Bracelet

Eine weitere von Jeannies FIMO-Perlen hat in einem Armband-Design ein Zuhause gefunden. Ein paar Tage, bevor ich die Perlen von Jeannie bekommen habe, habe ich einen Beutel opaker fliederfarbener Rocailles gekauft, die perfekt zu der marmorierten Linse von Jeannie passen. Ich habe noch Stiftperlen und alabasterweiße Rocailles hinzugefügt und ein Spiralseil-Armband draus gefädelt. Der Verschluß ist eine Magnet-Kugelschließe.

Another one from Jeannies beautiful pc beads went into a bracelet design. Just a few days before I got the package with Jeannie’s beads I bought a bag of opaque violet seedbeads and they are a perfect match for the swirled lentil bead. I added some bugle beads and ceylon white seedbeads and created a spiral rope bracelet, finished off with a magnetic ball clasp.
