Gestern hat es das erste Mal geschneit und ein paar Flocken sind auch liegengeblieben. Allerdings war gegen Mittag dann alles wieder in Herbstfarben gehüllt. Nur ein erster Vorgeschmack auf den Winter also. Passend zu den ersten Schneeflocken habe ich auch die erste Winterkette designt. Der Anhänger erinnert mich wegen seiner Farbe und Form an einen Eiskristall oder auch an Eisblumen am Fenster. Der Anhänger wird zusammen mit ein paar schönen Crowbeads und einer Metallperle an einem langen Lederband getragen. Die Kette ist in der Länge verstellbar.
Yesterday we had the first snow this winter. But before it was noon all the snow melted and the landscape was in fall colors again. Just a first taste of winter. Matching with the first snowflakes I designed the first winter necklace. The pendant reminded me of an ice crystal or an iced pattern on a window pane. The pendant is worn with some crowbeads and a metal bead on a leather cord. The lenght of the necklace is variable.

Vom Wetter her ist es eigentlich schon wieder Zeit für warme Socken, Tee und vor allem für Herbst- und Winterschmuck. Trotzdem wollte ich euch noch einige Stücke zeigen, die ich im Sommer gemacht habe, die aber noch nicht den Weg in den Blog gefunden haben. Das lag vielleicht auch daran, daß ich den Wechsel vom Sommer zu Herbst im sonnigen Süditalien völlig verpaßt habe. 
Den Glasanhänger in Form einer Muschel fand ich so schön, daß ich ihn gar nicht weiter in einem Schmuckstück verarbeitet habe, sondern ihn einfach an einem Kautschukband präsentiere und er ganz für sich wirken kann. Zu dem Multi-Edelstein-Armband hat mich eine Steinsplittermischung von Buttinette mit ihren bunten Farben inspiriert. Enthalten sind Türkis, Rosenquarz, Sodalith, Howlith, Jaspis, Aventurin, Calcit, Amethyst u.a., sozusagen alle Farben der Erde. Es ist auf ein Gummiband aufgezogen, so daß es ohne Verschluß auskommt, und mit einer Metallperle verziert. Das Armband “Cherries” ist Teil meiner Afrika-Kollektion und komplett aus Rocailles (teilweise Red-White-Insides) gefertigt. Die Technik heißt Popcorn-Stitch und stammt aus Südafrika.
The weather says that it is already time for warm socks, tea and especially for fall and winter jewelry. Although I wanted to show you some pieces, which I did in summer, but didn’t find the way into my blog. Maybe the problem was that I really missed the change from summer to fall in sunny Southern Italy. The shell-shaped glass pendant seemed to beautiful to me to be converted in a piece of jewelry together wit other beads etc. And so I just present it with a rubber necklace to show its whole beauty. The colours of a mix of semiprecious stone chips inspired me for the bracelet in the middle. It contains turquoise, rose quartz, sodalith, howlith, jasper, aventurin, calcit etc., one can say: all colors of the earth. It is done with stretch cord and also contains a metal bead. The “Cherries” bracelet is a part of my African collection and is completely made of seedbeads (partly red-white insides). The technique is called Popcorn Stitch and comes from South Africa.

Ein erster internationaler Erfolg für eine meiner Kreationen! Ich habe “Autumn Sun” (erstmals veröffentlicht unter dem Namen “Indian Summer” hier im Blog) für die Fall 2008 Reader Gallery eingereicht und die Kette wurde veröffentlicht.

Ich hab euch ja bereits von meinen Anfängen des Sockenstrickens und meiner Abneigung dagegen erzählt (s. Die Socken-Herausforderung). Inzwischen kann ich es nicht mehr lassen! Und es macht auch noch Spaß! Was wiederum dazu führt, daß ich noch ein Hobby habe, daß ich ausüben “muß”. Hier seht ihr das zweite Paar. Das dritte ist schon in Arbeit.
I told you in an earlier post about my beginning in knitting socks and my aversion about it (see The Sock Challenge). And now I can’t help doing it! And it’s also fun! And so I found another hobby which I “have” to do. See the second pair of socks. The third one is in progress.
